Hi, I’m the person behind Seoul Heritage Walks.
I live a few minutes’ walk from Gwanghwamun, right in the historic heart of Seoul. I grew up in another part of the city, and ever since I was a kid I dreamed of living here, among the palaces, the old alleys, and the stories they hold. Eight years ago that dream came true, and I still haven’t gotten tired of my neighborhood.
By day I work as a certified public accountant. Outside of work, I’m happiest exploring the things that make Korea what it is: its history, art, and culture, and of course its food and drinks. A good meal and a bowl of makgeolli after a long walk through a palace is my idea of a perfect day.
Why this blog?
Most guides to Seoul are written by visitors who spend a few days here. I get to walk these places in every season, early in the morning before the crowds, on rainy days, and after the first snow. I want to share what I see, along with the legends and history behind it, so you can experience Korea more deeply than a quick checklist allows.
Every photo on this site is my own, and every place I write about is one I’ve visited myself. As an accountant, I’m a bit obsessive about getting the facts right, so if you spot something that needs correcting, please let me know.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll enjoy walking with me.
